Tulln, 8.5.2025 - Great interest at the first edition of Science Connection, the new networking event for young scientists in Lower Austria: Numerous young talents from research and applied science came together at accent Makerspace Tulln to network, be inspired and discover innovation potential.

Thilo Schmalz, tecnet equity Technology Transfer Manager, emphasizes the importance of such formats: “Knowledge communication is the key to translating research into social and economic benefits. An event like Science Connection creates the ideal platform for this - low-threshold, open and practical.”

Organized by the partners tecnet equity, accent Inkubator, the acib research center and the Gesellschaft für Forschungsförderung Niederösterreich, the event offered a varied and practical programme:

  • Young researchers from various Lower Austrian research institutions got to know each other at the Science Dating event

  • The start-ups NOSI and RNAnalytics provided exciting insights into their work at the interface between science and business.

  • Researchers such as Rita Mota and Sebastian Gruber presented their current research projects.

  • In a relaxed atmosphere, there was plenty of room for informal discussions and making new contacts.

The event was perceived by all participants as an important stimulus for the young research scene.

“The accent Makerspace stands for interdisciplinary exchange, technological innovation and a dynamic research community - and thus embodies the values that are also at the heart of the Science Connection,” emphasizes Julia Uhlik, site manager of the accent Makerspace. “The setting is ideal for jointly providing impetus for the creation of the Lower Austrian spin-offs of tomorrow.”

Mario Enzenberger, authorized signatory of GFF NÖ, emphasizes the added value of such formats for the research landscape: “Networking young researchers promotes innovation, knowledge exchange and strengthens long-term cooperation in research. It not only supports individual career development, but also an interdisciplinary scientific culture. “

The new event format is also viewed positively by acib: “We have outstanding scientists at a wide range of locations in Lower Austria and a number of exciting projects. With the Science Connection, we want to network young researchers in order to develop new ideas and innovative approaches together,” explains Matthias Slatner, acib Business Developer.

The first edition of Science Connection has impressively demonstrated this: Those who network, win - be it through new perspectives, concrete cooperation ideas or access to support services for the implementation of scientific results in practice.
